Head Teachers Welcome

A warm welcome to Ash Trees Academy Website!

Ash Trees Academy is a primary aged special academy, based in Billingham. We serve the entire Stockton-on-Tees area, providing specialist support and provision for pupils with cognitive impairments.  We currently have around 170 pupils who experience severe learning difficulties, which includes profound and complex medical needs and young people with autism.

Our pupils are at the heart of everything we do and I feel extremely honoured to be the Head Teacher of Ash Trees Academy. The needs of our pupils are always paramount in the life and decision making within school, where we continuously strive to gain pupils voice within decisions. We strongly believe in providing our pupils with creative and meaningful learning experiences, which build their curiosity about the world around them and develop a true ‘love of learning’ and help them to grow into the unique and amazing young people they are.

I am dedicated to encouraging all pupils to achieve high academic standards, alongside their personal, social, and emotional development. We strive to nurture all pupils’ individual interests and skills through personalised approaches to learning.

I am passionate at ensuring we have strong parents partnerships and parents are involved in all stages of their child’s learning and development. Learning for our pupils is continuous, so strong partnerships are key to the pupil’s development.

Ash Trees Academy is part of the Ascent Academies’ Trust, a small but growing partnership of special schools in the North-East of England, whose purpose is to provide outstanding education and support for children with special needs.
